A communication technology that allows two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously.
Virtual World
A computer-based, three-dimentional simulated environment intended for its users to inhabit and interact via avatars. Many of these are online and used for student learning. An example is Second Life, which was developed by Ohio University.
Visual Impairments
Refers to conditions where people are blind, color blind, or have reduced vision capabilities. Often, these people will use assistive technologies like screen readers or magnifiers to help them use computers and navigate through Web sites.
Vlog (video blog)
A blog that comprises video. Regular entries are typically presented in reverse chronological order and often combine embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, and other metadata.
Voice Recognition
Voice or speech recognition is the ability of a machine or program to receive and interpret dictation, or to understand and carry out spoken commands.
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)
The routing of voice conversations over the Internet or through any other IP-based network.
